Slash’s SG Doubleneck Guitars

“I believe this is a '67 or '68 that I picked-up used, and it was already refinished black like that. It's been sort of the Knockin' On Heaven's Door guitar. Most of the guitars that I bought are new in the 90s because when we were doing those double records - the Use Your Illusion albums - I was trying to find different ways to make 36 songs sound interesting...The SG doubleneck was integral to Guns' guitar sound for some old those songs, so I took it on the road. When you'll think of certain songs, you'll think of that guitar...” ----Slash

This is the guitar that was used during the Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusion World Tour (Only Women Bleed / Knockin’ On Heavens Door, Patience). It’s based on a SG with a 6-string neck and a 12-string neck. Slash also used this guitar during the Contraband tour. For the Aerosmith cover “No More, No More” both sets of E strings on the 12-string neck where tuned to dropped D.

Slash also used other 2 SG doubleneck guitars (a white and a cherry one) for the song “Wish You Were Here”.
